It's been a busy weekend in the garden. I tilled the tomato row and covered it with a new black cloth as well as planter the first four tomato plants. I got these as a steal for $2 each at home depot. Now I just have to keep my fingers crossed that I did not plant these out too early.
I also had a nice daffodil "harvest" and was particularly excited that the Tahiti Daffodils came back this year. They are my faves! I also planted some Thai basil in the community plot as well as four little pots on my patio.
These are leftovers from the daffodil bulbs planted in the fall. I am curious to see if they make any progress in water. Keep in mind that they have not been exposed to the required extreme cold.
From my planting this past fall, it looks like my tulips have been eaten by the greedy little rabbits. However, my pretty pretty daffodils are peaking from beneath the ground. Also, shoutout to the geese.
We have not been going to the garden as regular as before and I apologize for not posting as much. The lot has been run-over by weeds and is really a mess. My alpine strawberries have continued to fruit and flower. The raspberries taste divine. The second batch of carrots it just about ready and today we planted tulips for the spring. Below are some pictures I have been holding on to.
Over 25 exhibits and many unique shops is what I found at this year's Flower & Garden Show at the Seaport Hotel / Convention center. There were lots of beautiful flowers in bloom not only daffodils (Narcissus), tulips, roses, hellebores, peonies, lilies of all sorts, poppys and many many more. My favorite was the vast number tulip varieties (especially the orange and yellow ones). There was also an exhibit featuring bonsai plants. This included the typical plants only (ie Azaleas, dogwood, etc). What was far more interesting were the bonsai plants being offered up for sale. I gave up on waiting for my citrus tree seeds to germinate and bought a 3 foot bonsai orange tree. The only sad part is that I have no idea how old this one is. I will get it cleaned up and post a picture soon!
